Out of the Gutter

Thank you to Patricia of Huntington for allowing us to repair and clean the gutters around her home. You were a delight to work with.

No pictures are available for this project because of the rain and gutters are more of a had-to-be-there kind of situation.

So, instead, here are a few tips:

Summer time is the time when you really have to pay attention to your gutters. So much debris and dirt can get in there and cause a huge mess. Not to mention it can cause great damage to the system itself. Gutter repair can get expensive and climbing up and down the ladder gets tiring in this summer heat.

Make sure to check them for overflow and debris after a rain storm.

Check the connecting hardware. If there are loose nails, try to hammer them back into the structure. The longer they stay unsecure, the more damage you will have to deal with later.

If the whole gutter system is loose even after all the nails are replaced, I suggest getting some hidden gutter hangers and attaching them. You will need a drill and a hex bolt piece to attach them.

If there are any holes in the piping, there is a silicone outdoor caulking that you can use to fill little holes. Otherwise, the whole piece may need to be replaced. Don't worry if the color doesn't match. You can easily paint the dry pieces with any exterior paint or metal surface spray paint.

And remember. If you can't do it yourself, you can always call Hogsett Rent Ready for your interior and exterior maintenance needs.
